E3

I've got a 1500 word report due in tomorrow, but I decided to stop doing that to simply explain my feelings towards this E3 and all those cynical bastard reporters/nob rockets out there, who have some how managed to bring the entire atmosphere of E3 down to a mere "FUCKING CASUAL GAMERS"
ONCE MORE
WELL DONE FELLAS.

So here we are, E3 2010 has arrived, one of the biggest gaming events of the year, revealing sought after gaming news and making millions of gamers around the world get that little shiver up their spine that say "Ooooh it's gonna be a good one~"
I will cite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suLfntu5Grk as my reference - Especially 1993.

So here's how I see it - Call me an optimist, a nay sayer, an annoying enthusiastic prick If you will, but heed these words.
Microsoft are not "TURNING INTO NINTENDO" - Far from it. So lets look at the facts, merely because I've had countless 'discussions' with people all day about this.

Nintendo have always been some what of a casual gamer console - Except casual gamers weren't REALLY around due to a lack of marketing and Ga
ming not being such a main stream media until recent times.
Do you honestly look at all the characters and IPs (Intellectual properties) and go "Sure is hardcore gaming round here" - Super Mario, Starfox, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Kirby - The list goes on, and whilst most of these were created when "Hardcore gaming" wasn't available due to visual abilities, it does not change the fact that these IPs are still running today, they aren't particularly hardcore in gaming style either, not that this is a problem.
There was never this border between hardcore and casual gaming, it's just a matter of fact that gaming has become so big now, that gaming companies are there for all types of gamers, you can't for one second tell me there aren't 'hardcore' games out there for you too; Gears Of War, Fallout, Dragon Age, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Biosh
ock, Red Dead Redemption - All these titles from merely glancing at one of my shelves, and with more 'hardcore' titles coming out soon Dead Rising 2, Fallout New Vegas, Star Wars Force Unleashed 2, Gears Of War 3, Brink - The list goes on and on.
And it's not like developers of casual games aren't afraid to mix both, Harmonix, (A developer who is so close to my heart that I'm pretty sure a cardiac arrest is guaranteed) are releasing Rock Band 3, "a casual game because it's a gimmick and you can play at parties" you might say - But lets see you all rock pro mode when you're a casual player - Yea, that's what I thought.
So what's the new big fear? Project Natal (Kinect) is going to be centered towards casual gamers, thus the last bastion of all living hope that hardcore gamers will ever play a game that isn't super fluffy bunny land ever again...
Yea - This image really isn't helped with certain
gaming sites (I won't mention who) giving Kinect fuck all chance to prove itself and going "LOOK, ASIAN GIRLS PLAYING WITH TIGERS, FUCKING MICRO$OFT HAVE SOLD OUT" - Fuuuuuuuuuuck you, have some patience.
I could possibly understand your cynical views If Microsoft had gone "Hey guys, we're dropping all IPs and signing HelloKitty on as our only developer" but hey guess what, that isn't happening; I'd also like to remind everyone that lo' and behold - Game developers have to earn money too.
Have any of you stopped to think "Maybe motion control is the next step up", were you all this cynical when Nintendo went "Check this, Super Mario 64 - Guess what, it's 3D" did you all go "3D IS FOR CASUALS, HARDCORE GAMERS WANT 2D, PIXELS AND SAME OLD GAMEPLAY REPEATED OVER AND OVER".
Give it a chance, we're not all going to die, we're not all going to be forced into motion controls (Not that this is SUCH A FUCKING PROBLEM) and lastly, stop being massive douche bags, geez.
